What Information Do We Hold?

We collect information from people who submit comments about planning applications. The information may include:

  • Name, address and telephone number
  • E-mail address

Who do we share information with?

The information is reviewed by the Planning Team and, where an item is referred to Planning Committee, members of the Committee. We do not routinely publish neighbour comments on the public register.

Information may be shared with the Planning Inspectorate if an appeal is lodged against a planning decision.

Why do we have the information and what do we use it for?

The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) requires us to have a lawful basis for collecting and using personal information. For Planning Applications, our lawful basis is Article 6(1)(e): "processing is necessary for the performance of a task of the controller carried out in the public interest or a task carried out in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller."

The County Council is the data controller for this information and it is processed so that planning applications can be considered fully and in compliance with the law.
